Honoring a Decade of Dedication:
Mr. Nolan Lazarus, Program Director of Stuyvesant Heights Older Adult Club
At Fort Greene Council, we take immense pride in recognizing those who go above and beyond in service to our mission and community. This month, we are honored to celebrate Mr. Nolan Lazarus, Program Director of the Stuyvesant Heights Older Adult Club, for his unwavering commitment, leadership, and compassion since joining Fort Greene Council in 2012.
Much like the educators who leave a lasting impression on their students, Mr. Lazarus has made a profound impact on the lives of countless older adults throughout his tenure. His work extends far beyond programming and paperwork—he has cultivated a space where members feel seen, valued, and inspired to live fully each day.
For over a decade, Mr. Lazarus has shown what true dedication looks like. Whether he’s planning engaging activities, supporting his members through personal milestones, or ensuring every individual feels part of the Stuyvesant Heights family, his leadership reflects patience, creativity, and heart. His ability to balance professionalism with genuine care has not only strengthened his club but has also elevated the standards of excellence across all Fort Greene Council sites.
"What can I say about Mr. Lazarus? He’s truly the man who wears many hats—both literally and figuratively! His love for what he does and his genuine care for our older adults are clear in everything he does, and a true testament to his longevity here at Fort Greene Council.
I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Lazarus for over a decade, and one thing has never changed—his positivity, his inspiring spirit, and his ability to make everyone around him smile. You can always count on him for a good laugh and a kind word, which I appreciate tremendously."
— Leishanna Lawrence,
FGC Regional Manager
And of course, we can’t honor Mr. Lazarus without mentioning his impeccable sense of style! Known across Fort Greene Council as one of our more dapper gentlemen, Mr. Lazarus is rarely seen without one of his signature fedora hats—a look that has become as much a part of his personality as his calm demeanor and welcoming spirit. His style is timeless, and much like his leadership, it leaves a lasting impression wherever he goes.
When asked what drives his passion, those who know him best would say it’s simple—he truly cares. He shows up, listens, and leads with purpose. The joy, laughter, and sense of community that fill the Stuyvesant Heights Older Adult Club each day are a testament to his lasting influence.
As we reflect on his journey, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Lazarus for his over 20 years of outstanding service and for embodying the very best of what Fort Greene Council stands for: compassion, consistency, and community.

"As the Director of the Stuyvesant Heights Older Adult Club, Mr. Lazarus is the very definition of consistency and compassion. His professionalism, warmth, and positivity are felt by everyone who meets him. If we were to take a survey about Mr. Lazarus, the results would undoubtedly “echo” the same sentiment — that he is a true people person who never hesitates to show concern, lend a helping hand, and brighten someone’s day.
Mr. Lazarus takes the time to acknowledge everyone who crosses his path. His engaging and interactive nature creates an uplifting atmosphere where members feel seen, valued, and supported. To many, he is a motivator — encouraging participants to think deeply, consider every perspective, and approach challenges with understanding and grace.
Quite simply, Mr. Lazarus is the “glue” that holds the Stuyvesant Heights program together. His kindness, energy, and dedication inspire all who work with him.
For these reasons and many more, I am proud to call him “Doctor Love.”
-Ms. M. Taitt
Thank you, Mr. Lazarus, for your years of commitment, for your leadership, and for the countless ways you continue to uplift those around you. Your impact goes far beyond your program—it lives in the hearts of all who have had the privilege of working with you and calling you a friend.
Congratulations, Mr. Lazarus, and thank you for all that you do!
