Every year, National Senior Citizens Day gives us a fantastic opportunity to pause and celebrate the incredible older adults who build, guide, and enrich our Brooklyn neighborhoods. From grandmothers and community leaders to mentors and lifelong residents, our seniors are the cornerstone of our community.
This year, Fort Greene Council, Inc., alongside NYC Councilmember Rita Joseph, the NYC Department for the Aging, and VNS Health, is pulling out all the stops for a high-energy, resource-packed celebration at the Zest For Life Older Adult Club on Thursday, August 20, 2026!
Here is why you (or the older adult in your life) won't want to miss it:
✨ Event Highlights
💃 Zumba & Exercise Classes: Get moving with fun, low-impact fitness sessions designed to keep you feeling energized and flexible.
🎶 Live DJ & Music: Enjoy classic hits and festive music with great company.
🍎 FREE Lunch & Goodies: Sit down for a complimentary lunch and take home special giveaway bags and treats.
🧘 Health & Wellness Demonstrations: Get valuable tips, health information, and wellness demos directly from local healthcare professionals.
