Welcome to the FGC July Newsletter — a month that radiates the warmth of summer, the strength of legacy, and the power of community connection. At Fort Greene Council, July is more than just another page on the calendar. It's a time to honor traditions, embrace new energy, and celebrate the vibrant community that makes our Older Adult Clubs so special.
This month, we proudly recognize Black Family Month, a time to reflect on the resilience, love, and deep-rooted bonds that define Black families. From honoring our elders to uplifting the next generation, we take this opportunity to affirm the value of family—both blood and chosen—and the role it plays in shaping strong, connected communities.
We’re also sharing a look back at one of the highlights of the summer: our Annual BBQ at Krucker’s Picnic Grove! Sunshine, great food, laughter, dancing, and fellowship made for a picture-perfect day, and we’re still feeling the joy from every moment spent together. And speaking of joy—this issue shines a spotlight on the incredible members and staff at Willoughby Older Adult Club, who bring dedication, heart, and leadership to everything they do. From promotions and milestones to member appreciation and growth, Willoughby is a shining example of what it means to "actively age with dignity"—and to do it in style!
