Breast Cancer Awareness Month at Stuyvesant Heights OAC: Education, Empowerment, and Community Support 🎀💗

This year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month brought a powerful and uplifting event to the Stuyvesant Heights Older Adult Club. Members gathered for an informative and heartwarming session led by Dr. Tanya Smith of the Hofstra Northwell School of Nursing — and it was nothing short of inspiring.

Dr. Smith guided the group through an engaging conversation focused on breast cancer awareness, prevention strategies, and the importance of early detection. Her warm personality, humor, and approachable teaching style made the discussion both impactful and enjoyable. The lively Q&A session that followed sparked laughter, thoughtful questions, and heartfelt stories from our members.

Events like this highlight the strength and spirit of our community — reminding us how vital it is to create safe spaces where older adults can learn, ask questions, and support one another.

💗 We extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Smith for her dedication to health education and for empowering our members with knowledge that can truly save lives. And thank you to everyone who showed up decked out in pink to honor survivors, raise awareness, and stand united in the fight against breast cancer.

Please enjoy these highlights from a special day full of learning, connection, and community strength. 💞💪
